Wired magazine’s website carries a story abut Google and how it is scaring everyone in the TMT sector, from newspapers to telecom carriers.
I’m linking to it (here) so we’ve all got it for reference. It’s a tidy round up of all of the directions people think the big G might move in next, summarised in sections with subheadings "Who’s threatened?", "Signs of panic", and "Reality check".
For non-geek readers, the summary is: Google sits in a unique position as the most trusted and most visited/used website ont he Web, and is geenrating literally billions of dollars of ready cash. Everyone else (in e-commerce, telecom, print newspapers, software, TV) is hoping that they don’t spend the money on competing with them.
