It’s almost held to be universal truth these days that web tools are in "perpetual beta" – that is they never fully out of the "have a go, but it ain’t perfect – we’re still testing" phase. It’s half a Web 2.0 thing about letting stuff evolve and half a "don’t blame us if it doesn’t work" cover-all contingencies excuse, according to some cynics.
Well now Google has announced (on its blog, naturally) is breaking the mould by ending the beta on its Google News service with the addition of a Personalized Search:
You can sign up for Personalized Search to view and manage your history of news searches and the articles you’ve read. When you’re signed in to your Google Account, you’ll receive recommended news stories based on the previous stories you’ve read.
Combine this with the blog search function and would it be game over already in the brewing news aggregator wars?
