Only in a week as busy as the one just passed could I allow the joint announcement by BBC and ITV about launching a new trial of "multicast" online programming to be made without some sort of comment on Open.
The ISPs which are carrying the trial are:
- JANET
- C & W (but not Bulldog)
- clara.net
- NetServices Plc
- PlusNet
- Zen Internet
- KeConnect Internet
- InterVivo
My comment? Hurrah for them both – and I wish I had one of those ISPs…
In fact it’s also prompted me to start thinking about finally makign a decision about how I will be getting my broadband / TV services in future. I’m with NTL at the moment (my experience: bad TV GUI, expensive bundle and depressing customer service experiences) and have been thinking of paying for a BT line to be re-installed (massive broadband choice, lower prices and IPTV launching in September).
The geekish delight of Verwaayen in the the Telegraph today has swayed me further toward that option – the gleeful look in his picture (below) and talking about an age of "customer’s dominance" make me feel even more that BT is changing form the civil service stagnation pool of old to a new, very interesting company.
