Blog buzz barometer

There’s a great tool for quickly checking the number of mentions that people are getting on blogs on the Huffington Post’s Eat the Press Site. It’s  powered by Google Blog Search, so it is working with pretty accurate data.

You simply enter the names of the people you would like to compare (separated by commas) and it generates a bar graph showing the number of mentions they have had in the past week.

Here’s blog standings of the leaders of the three main political parties in the UK:

But despite it being billed as a "People Ranker" Open can reveal that it will work for any search term, meaning that you can rank competitive brand, products or anything – here’s the top three films in the UK this week (not a great week for cinema):

I note that maximum number of posts it can include on a graph seems to be 1800. So, not a completely accurate tool, but an interesting "just for fun" tool that might be useful every now and again.

  1. I’ve fed in a whole bunch: New Zealand political leaders, James Bond actors, and even an ego search. Fun little tool—thanks, Antony!

  2. Glad you liked it, Jack :-)
