I took part in a podcasted discussion with PR agency Peppercom posted this week around a survey of UK and US PR professionals about their attitudes to blogs.
It was an interesting discussion with participants including:
- Steve Cody and Jackie Vause from Peppercom
- Sally Falkow, head blogger for Bulldog Reporter’s Daily ‘Dog.
- Additionally, Denise Stinardo, manager of new media, Eastman Kodak Company
I was initially surprised that the attitudes were so similar. We’re used to the UK lagging behind the US in online marketing.
As I say on the podcast, I shouldn’t have been – PR people who are interested in online media (should be all, but believe me it’s not) are able to learn about blogs and social media at an accelerated rate if they choose to apply themselves.
A few weeks of reading the excellent PR resources out there on the subject, plugging into the networks by subscribing to some choice feeds and subscribing to a podcast or two and you can bring yourself up to speed pretty quickly.
And that’s what’s happening. The world’s smaller and learning is faster if you want it to be.
