iCrossing and Spannerworks

One of the reasons for my much-curtailed blogging over the past few weeks has been the build up to the completion of a deal that has seen Spannerworks acquired by US agency, iCrossing.

So, we’re keeping Spannerworks brand but will become “Spannerworks, an iCrossing company”.  Check out the shiny new Spannerworks website that launched on Monday.

The deal’s going to accelerate all aspects of our company’s growth and evolution. There’s a lot of knowledge, technology and experience on both sides that is very complementary, not least in the area of social media.

I’ll update you as things settle down, but suffice to say I’m very excited indeed.

: : We had a big party at the Hanbury Club in Brighton on Tuesday night to celebrate the new company and a good time was had by one and all. It was a very proud day for everyone in the company, especially for Arjo Ghosh, our CEO who started the whole thing – in true entrepreneurial style – in his bedroom ten years ago.

    Congratulations Antony.

    And it raises an interesting question – if part of the true nature of blogging is to encourage transparency and generate dialogue, is there a place for it in the highly secretive world of mergers and acquisitions?

    Reading your blog about the negotiations and getting the insider’s view of the process would have been fascinating – even if published after the fact.

    (with tongue slightly in cheek – but actually also interested in what you have to say…)

    Heh heh – that would be interesting indeed. But you’ll have to wait for my blogged memoirs… ;-)

    Maybe one day the transparency and openness culture of blogs will pervade the M&A world – I really could imagine that happening as we rework and reimagine what privacy and privileged information means in a networked world.

    Here and now, I think I could safely say it would have been a deal-breaker. :-) But I will definitely bear your suggestion in mind next time I find myself in that kind of situation.
