Second Life comes to Brighton

Great news for Brighton – it looks like the rumours of Second Life-on-Sea are true: Linden Lab, which runs the virtual world, is hiring developers for its new Brighton office, according to an post on the company’s blog. Adactio confirms the story following Barcamp.

I hope that Linden Lab succeed and grow their base in Brighton. It’s a badge of honour for the city to have them come here.

Anyone else thinking of opening up a web company in the UK could do worse than come and take a look at the talent base and excellent lifestyle of Brighton & Hove. Fifty minutes by train to London, half an hour from Gatwick airport, two universities, vibrant creative community etc etc.

And here’s another pic from my bike commute along the seafront to underline the point: living and working here is great…

For years when I go to Brighton the city strikes me as the UK version of SF, and I always felt sad that there was not a large IT industry there. Lets hope LL changes all of that.

I for one will be applying very soon.

  4. Dear Andrew,

As you may or not be aware all EU residents have now been hit with a VAT charge for using Second Life. Many of us want and need important information from Linden Labs for tax and personal reasons. It would appear though that Brighton office of LL has disappeared or been hidden from view from most known searches.

Therefore, I was wondering whether you could supply the postal address of the offices and whatever name if any it maybe trading/advertising under?

Many thanks in advance for any help you can supply.

    Dave.

  5. I’ll find out Dave. And it’s Antony, BTW :-)
