After seeing Joe Trippi talk politics 2.0 this week, politics is very much front of mind. Interesting, then, to see an article in the Guardian from Jemima Kiss about key players in both ConservativeHome and LabourHome (blogs / social spaces for the two main UK political parties) heading for the US for inspiration.
Also has me thinking: people use to talk about the US being 18 months ahead when it came to social media. But it’s not that simple: there are topics where UK bloggers simply plug into global networks. When it comes to something defined more by geography – say national politics – the social media scenes look different in both countries.
I’d say there are different cultures in the US and UK when it comes to social media. I’m not really sure how to qualify that, but I will give it some more thought…
: : BTW: Forgive the posting deluge: It’s a bit of a catch up day for me on the blog today: (a) it’s Father’s Day, so I may get left alone a bit, (b) it’s raining in Brighton, and (c) I’m off on holiday this week to a strange land without broadband (the New Forest) so I need to post while I can.
